This was the event everybody was looking forward to: from November 8 to 11, the new edition of Paris Photo took place at Grand Palais and beyond. As the largest international art fair dedicated to photography, Paris Photo came to an end this Sunday, and now it is time to take a look back at its highlights. The private opening on November 7 was already fulfilling the fair’s promises with the attendance of photography household names like Sebastião Salgado or Daido Moriyama. The latter even received the Legion of Honour from the Minister of Culture Franck Riester. Big names like Jennifer Flay, André Magnin, Jean-Olivier Desprès or Jérôme Neutres were all present to discover first-hand what Paris Photo had in store. Among the new features this year was the creation of the Curiosa sector curated by Martha Kirszenbaum. This new sector, a large space housed under the Salon d’Honneur stars, will have a new theme each year. For the 2018 edition, Martha Kirszenbaum decided to put forward themes revolving around eroticism and bodies, and to question the notion of genre. Among the artists presented in the selection, Nobuyoshi Araki or American artist Jo Ann Callis, also present on opening day. Paris Photo also presented by the Elles x Paris Photo parcours, curated by Fannie Escoulen, a history of photography through the lens of women.
