The Opening of the BASTOK LESSEL Gallery in Paris, Meeting the Masters of Pop Art
A place embodying both the apogee of contemporary art and the legacy of long-established masters has sprung in the very heart of the 8th arrondissement in Paris. BASTOK LESSEL, the latest collaboration between Tom-David Bastok and Dylan Lessel, celebrates the new name of the gallery unveiling a 400m2 space dedicated to creativity and wonder.
Driven by the spirit behind the legendary alliance between Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, BASTOK LESSEL stands as a meeting place for history and modernity to converge.
In the tumultuous and effervescent eighties in New York, the artistic scene saw the birth of a unique fusion of friendship and creativity. This iconic trio transcended the boundaries of art by conveying a critical and provocative vision of society. Their commitment to sociopolitical issues such as capitalism, apartheid, aids and climate change paved the way for a timeless artistic legacy.
BASTOK LESSEL’s inaugural exhibition pays homage to this revolutionary period by highlighting the intricate relationships and influences between Basquiat, Haring and Warhol. Through a carefully curated selection, featuring 20 paintings and works on paper, visitors can plunge into the captivating universe of these contemporary art masters.
BASTOK LESSEL doesn’t only celebrate the past but also takes a look at the future, bringing an ambitious and cutting-edge approach. Simultaneously launching an exhibition in its Dubai space, the gallery demonstrates its commitment to promoting contemporary art on an international scale, thus creating cultural and artistic bonds that extend beyond geographical boundaries.
