Chaillot Expérience #5, A Choreography of Pop Culture
The first instalment of the year, Chaillot Expérience #5 invites us to explore the symbiotic relationship between dance and music that lies at the heart of the Pop genre. To better seize the scope of those interrelations, the evening began with a talk by journalist and dance critic Rosita Boisseau, who retraced the evolution of pop culture to unveil its influences on contemporary dance. Needless to say, dance was omnipresent throughout the evening, through Thomas Lebrun’s choreographic Jukebox sessions, Barbara Carlotti’s concert—co-choreographed by Mickael Phelippeau and Clarisse Chanel and interpreted by 11 dancers from the l’Ensemble Chorégraphique du Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris—and an extract of Étienne Rochefort’s piece “Bugging”. Regarding the DJ set, Les Gordon opened up the dancefloor before Mondkopf took over, making the public dance until late hours.
Fashion lovers alike, keep an eye on the next event, Chaillot Expérience #6 – Mode, which will close the programme on April 4th and 5th.
We crossed paths with Thomas Lebrun, Fifi Chachnil, Jean-Michel Crovesi, Clarisse Chanel, and many more.
