Sitting front row at Yohji Yamamoto SS20 in Paris
The Yohji Yamamoto show always comes as a breath of fresh air within the Paris Fashion Week craziness. A few minutes before the show, guests were taking their seats on the benches installed in front of a gigantic white curtain falling onto the ground, and creating a beautiful draping. The first silhouettes appear in front of Coco Rocha, Sarah Moon or Juergen Teller sitting front row. Triangles, rectangles, and circles of fabric run through the naked skin to assemble fitted jackets with long skirts and trousers. Yohji Yamamoto gives a geometry class that one understands only through sensuality and poetry. Volumes accentuate progressively on round-shaped hems, vivid colors appear on two draped silhouettes like an explosion of paint, while the embroidered lining of long shirts gives the collection a couture feel. After yet another timeless show, the master came to greet his public to the sound of no music. While he returns backstage, one can read in the back of his jacket the following inscription: “No Future”…
