YAMATO Inaugurates its First International Boutique in Le Marais
Reinventing the traditional kimono to suit contemporary lifestyle, here’s the mission of Japanese fashion brand YAMATO, founded in Tokyo in 1917. Following a first pop-up store in the 3rd arrondissement of the fashion capital, the Japanese label is now establishing a permanent base on rue du Bourg-Tibourg. This new boutique, located in the heart of Le Marais district, features pieces from two ready-to-wear labels, KIMONO ARCH and Y. & SONS. Strolling amongst mannequins wearing impressive flower bouquets by Ko Hana, guests had the chance to browse original kimonos, fabrics, fans, bags and even a few kokeshi dolls, while enjoying a fine sake served in traditional wooden cups. With Takayuki Yajima, grandson of the company’s founder, at the helm, YAMATO revisits the Japanese art of tailoring with a resolutely contemporary and innovative spirit.
