Pop Culture Icon Snoopy Celebrates its 75th Anniversary with “Snoopy in Style”
On the eve of his 75th birthday, Snoopy hasn’t aged a wrinkle. To celebrate this anniversary in style, the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Peanuts Worldwide chose to present an exceptional exhibition in the heart of the city of fashion. “Snoopy in Style: A History of Peanuts and Fashion” is a fascinating exploration of the influence of fashion both on the Peanuts characters and on their creator, Charles M. Schulz. The exhibition includes comic strips and items from the museum’s collections, and Sarah Andelman has invited 18 new designers to dress Snoopy and Woodstock, including Marine Serre, Giambattista Valli, Lacoste, Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, Amiri, Paul Smith, KidSuper and 3PARADIS, to name but a few.
The exhibit is divided into 6 main sections: first, the public discovers Sparky’s personal style, before exploring the significance of the iconic characters’ outfits. An entire section is dedicated to Snoopy and Belle, and another focuses on the influence of Peanuts on popular culture, and vice versa. A section explains the role of Connie Boucher and Determined productions in the Peanuts adventure, and finally, a room is dedicated to 75 dolls designed by the greatest fashion Houses (Chanel, Gucci…). A final section pays tribute to the long creative friendship between Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and the Peanuts universe.
Sarah Andelman is co-curating the Gift Shop, where a limited-edition Bamford watch and a Baccarat x Sarah Andelman figurine will be available. K-Way will re-edit a 1985 collaboration with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac on the iconic Claude jacket, while Leblon Delienne will develop its King Snoopy. Visitors will also be able to purchase scarves, T-shirts, candles and so much more. At the opening of this colourful exhibition at the Hôtel du Grand Veneur, we met Sarah Andelman and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac alongside Jean Schulz, as well as Pharrell Williams, Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, Emeric Tchatchoua, Sophie Fontanel, Emmanuel Perrotin, Michael Dupouy, Beck and many others!
