The Tokyo Art Club hosted last Thursday the evening of the SAM Award, presented to the artist Mel O’Callaghan whose practice combines films, performances, sculptures and installations.
Every year SAM Art Projects awards a prize to a visual artist residing in France and presenting a project for a foreign country (outside Europe and North America). It supports artists from the French scene, so that they can carry out a project outside their daily cultural perimeter.
As part of his exhibition for the SAM Prize at the Palais de Tokyo in 2017, Mel O’Callaghan will present””Dangerous on-the-way”” a new series of video, sound and performance, shot in the Simud Putih cellars at Gomantong, Borneo.
