Literature comes out of the book with Extra!

For its second edition, “Extra!”, the Centre Pompidou festival has rose to a challenge: that of taking literature out of the pages of the book and into the walls of a museum. From September 5 to 9, artists and storytellers from around the world gathered around words to explore the crossroads between literature and contemporary art. With the participation of the Azeri artist Babi Badalov and Italian-born Lamberto Pignotti, words find their place on the walls of the Centre Pompidou, and are the center Littéra-TUBE, a digital installation inspired by the YouTube platform, surprisingly unveiled here as a place of contemporary literature. Highlight of the evening, the African-American poet / singer Tracie Morris delivered a performance between poetry reading and singing for all the guests of the festival created by Jean-Max Colard to enjoy. Finally, the Bernard Heidsieck-Centre Pompidou Honorary Prize was awarded to Michèle Métail by the 2018 jury president Julien Blaine. For this new edition, Extra ! is a whole program on the sidelines of this literary season, not to be missed until September 9.
