Lison de Caunes Unveils her Autobiography, “La paille en héritage”

Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, decorator André Groult, Lison de Caunes has chosen to perpetuate his legacy by working with straw marquetry. Rapidly, she became a specialist in this little-known craft, which was very much in vogue in the 18th century and during the Art Deco period. In recognition of her dedication and mastery of this tradition, which she initiated over 40 years ago, Lison de Caunes was named Master of Art in 1998 and awarded the Légion d’honneur in 2010. The artist is now unveiling an unprecedented autobiography that bears witness to her dedication to this practice. Entitled “La paille en héritage” and co-written with writer Nadine Coleno, the book plunges us into the very heart of her creative universe and narrates the story of the talented straw maker through rich illustrations, captivating anecdotes and emblematic projects.

The book launch took place on Thursday 21, and it was an opportunity for guests to preview the first chapters of this tale of family heritage, know-how and passion for straw marquetry. Friends and family of the artist were in attendance, including Antoine De Caunes, Emma De Caunes, and Blandine De Caunes, but also Albina du Boisrouvray, Vincent Darré, Patricia Racine, Henri Jobbé-Duval and Charles Jouffre.
