The MEP gives Hassan Hajjaj carte blanche
For the first event of the fall season, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie is presenting a retrospective of the Anglo-Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj—his first in France. With this carte blanche, he transforms the MEP into the “Moroccan house of photography,” which he’s infused with his colorful style, one that addresses both consumer society and traditional Moroccan iconography. In a festive mixture, religion and ritual meet fashion editorial and luxury style (the artist has always been attracted to clothing). The opening celebration, which took place in the MEP’s courtyard, included a live concert.
