R5 turbo x Depardieu : reinterpreting legend

Early 80’s. Gérard Depardieu is in the midst of a tremendous career. Truffaut’s “Le dernier métro” had just won all the Césars and Gérard is finally rewarded with fame. A year later, French automobile manufacturer Renault enhances its famous Renault 5 with a turbo technology tested on a Formula One racing-car. Soon replaced by the Supercinq, the R5 will still be forever engraved in our collective subconscious as THE reference when it comes to French cars.

Surfing on the Neo-retro trend and considering the possibility of a global electrification of our world car fleet, Renault has recently released a full-on electric version of the R5 turbo. A 380hp monster, partly inspired by the gaming world, which probably announces the return of a mass-produced electric R5. And we are definitely looking forward to finding out more about it.
