Factory Design X Air Lair: Cocoon airlines

The aviation industry is questioning. How to transition to less energy-consuming aircrafts, to use green fuel, to increase the number of passengers or even to reestablish supersonic speed? In the midst of the pandemic, health also came into question. How can airlines ensure that their aircrafts are not transformed into clusters even though wearing a mask on board in now mandatory? Having worked for years on cabin designs, the British agency Factory Design just revealed this new honeycomb design. The idea is to install a series of cocoons in staggered rows, which would allow passengers to remain isolated if needed. These cocoons would provide individual temperature control or sound isolation and would increase total capacity by 30%. Still, a question remains: What about luggage? While very attractive, this idea is still in its first phases and hasn’t been manufactured… yet!
