Xavier Eeckhout’s Bestiary of exception
Majestic, touching, peaceful or frightening, the species that populate the extraordinary bestiary that Xavier Eeckhout proposes from September 15 to October 21 in his Parisian gallery are a tribute to 20th century animal art.
Whether it is the Coq de Charles Arthus (1925), Bagheera (1928), the panther that Gaston Etienne Le Bourgeois tamed before immortalizing his haughty head in bronze, the twenty or so pieces that make up this exhibition are rare both by their execution and by their remarkable place in the work of each artist.
To take the naturalist subject further, Xavier Eeckhout invites a dialogue between sculptures and paintings thanks to the watercolours of Prune Cirelli, whose delicate features and soft sketches have already dressed the pages of Madame Figaro Japan or Monsieur, as seduced a large number of prestigious houses such as Guerlain or Marie-Hélène de Taillac. An opportunity to revisit a vision of art as a sublimated reflection of biodiversity.
