Mickalene Thomas Exhibition Opening At The Musée de l’Orangerie
The work of Mickalene Thomas blends together a rereading of art history, her liking of pop culture, and a strong political dimension. Using a wide range of diverse technical procedures, she composes scenes – sometimes by referencing master painters, from Ingres to Picasso – which she then integrates into reinvented domestic environments. On the occasion of her first exhibition in France, she conceived an exclusive series of works for the Musée de l’Orangerie, including Monet’s marvellous water garden.
