Benjamin Seroussi Casts a New Light on Minerals with “Marbres”
No matter the artistic medium, Benjamin Seroussi isn’t afraid of testing its limits and presenting us with unconventional combinations. For the exhibition ‘Marbles’, the French artist and filmmaker has ventured into the sculptors’ medium par excellence, the metamorphic rock derived from limestone, to unveil an unexplored side of this mineral through the faces immortalised by his camera. By printing silver portraits on the stone’s surface, Benjamin Seroussi plays on the contrasting natures of the image and the mineral, thus pushing for further reflection on notions of time, movement, space and matter. The exhibition is curated by Victoria Aleksa and will be running at Le Consulat, on 14 Avenue Parmentier, from December 11th to 20th.
During the opening evening, which featured a special screening of a film about the protagonists of the portraits, we met Lionel Bensemoun, Annissa Bonnefont and Xaver von Mentzingen.
