“The Myth”, Juergen Teller’s Solo Exhibition at Suzanne Tarasieve Gallery

If anyone knows how to nail a photo shoot that blends glamour and trash, it’s Juergen Teller. The German photographer, born in Erlangen in 1964, has made a name for himself by challenging the codes of fashion photography through images that are as raw as they are seductive. Kate Moss, Iggy, Kurt Cobain, Björk and even Kim Kardashian are just some of the celebrities immortalized by Teller. In his latest series exhibited at the Suzanne Tarasieve Gallery, it is his wife and creative partner, Dovile Drizyte, who is the protagonist of the photographs. Entitled ‘The Myth’, the exhibition takes on the popular belief that raising one’s legs in the air increases the chances of getting pregnant, through 92 diptychs presented in the form of a sequence shot. By skilfully combining absurdity, romanticism, tenderness and honesty, Jürgen Teller delivers yet another ode to the photographic medium.

The opening took place on Thursday 30 December at the gallery, where the project La Bibliothèque de Frank Horvat, based on the work of photographer Frank Horvat, was also presented. We had the pleasure of meeting Michele Lamy, Diane Pernet, Chris Dercon, Simon Baker, Fiammetta Horvat and many others.
