“Flora”: Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler at the Giacometti Institute
After recently granting Annette Messager and Peter Lindbergh carte blanche at the museum, the Giacometti Institute has now invited artist duo Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler to dialogue with the Swiss master’s work. Their exhibition (on view until June 9 under the artistic direction of Christian Alandete) presents the installations “Flora” and “Bust.” The duo explores the life and work of Flora Mayo, an artist who had a romantic relationship with Giacometti in the 1920s, but whose own work has been completely overlooked. The installation was first presented at the Venice Biennale in 2017, but has been adapted as a new version specifically for the Giacometti Institute.
