The 2nd Edition of Design Miami Opens the Doors of Karl Lagerfeld’s Home with Roham Shamekh
Organised in collaboration with artist Roham Shamekh, the second edition of Design Miami will take place in Karl Lagerfeld’s sumptuous former mansion at 7 rue de l’Université in Paris. The exhibition is a first of its kind and brings together the greatest works of the French modernist movement, embodied by Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier (Galerie Patrick Seguin), Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne (Galerie Mitterrand) and Charlotte Perriand (Galerie Downtown-Laffanour). But the most exciting part is undoubtedly the furniture exhibition by designer Rick Owens. Although his playground is fashion, Rick Owens, a graduate of the Los Angeles Otis College of Art and Design, couldn’t resist a venture into the world of interior design. For the first time among the exhibitors was Galerie Gastou, who was collaborating with Galerie Desprez-Bréhéret and presenting a selection of furniture by sculptor Jean Touret. Exhibitions by Nilufar, Galerie Kreo and Carpenters Workshop Gallery were also eagerly anticipated. The growing importance of this fair bears witness to the incredible momentum of the American market.
At this vernissage, held in the sumptuous lounges of the Plaza Athénée, we met Jérôme Sans, Thierry Gillier, Camélia Esmaili, Aric Chen, Isabelle Brancolini, Arthur Duncan, Grela Orihuela, Rasmus Mogensen, Ginger Wang, Nadine Ghaffar and Marsha Lipton.
