The Palais de Tokyo Entrusts the Great Glasshouse to Malala Andrialavidrazana
Le Palais de Tokyo entrusted the Great Glasshouse to Malala Andrialavidrazana, who has taken over its curved wall surface almost 60 meters long under the curation of François Piron. With this monumental fresco, the Madagascan artist is reorganizing the digital photomontage work she has been working on since 2015 into an original project which almost feels like an architectural piece. This exhibition, sponsored by the Fonds Yavarhoussen, is her first solo show in a French public institution, and feels like a retrospective of her internationally acclaimed work. Malala Andrialavidrazana’s “Figures” take shape through multiple iconographic sources such as maps, stamps, banknotes, prints and advertisements, meticulously collected and selected by the artist.
