Opening of the exhibition Anthony Lycett
To begin 2016, the Galerie Isabelle Gounod is waving the colours of freak by presenting Anthony Lycett’s first exhibition in Paris until 27 February 2016.
Lycett’s work, a photographer living in London, explores and paints a portrait of London and Paris sub-culture. His analytical approach documents the forms of self-representation that elevate style to cult status. An exhibition that offers a look at his most recent work and follows a work of nearly ten years of capturing portraits of individuals from social currents of the present time.
The”Self-Styled” series, started in 2008, now includes more than 200 diptychs representing eccentrics, dandies, punks, gothics, transvestites and the avant-garde of London and Paris. Last weekend, some of them met at the opening of this highly inspired exhibition that pushes the codes of fashion into what it has most contested.
