Mondes parallèles: MAM Paris Unveils its New Exhibition

In cosmology, the parallel world is defined as a universe with its own measures of space and time. If those were to exist, they would have to be distinct from our own and be ruled by a set of foreign laws that could overturn what we nowadays consider to be absolute theories and fundamental principles.

Under this very concept as title, the new display of the MAM brings together the work of 7 artists with singular universes but a common vision, several of whom are being exhibited here for the very first time. Sharing a common concern for reality and art, their productions invite us to broaden our perceptions in order to transport us into a parallel, poetic and emotional universe. Marie Bourget, Helmut Federle, Hélène Garache, Hubert Kiecol, Charlotte Rampling, Anne-Marie Schneider and Pierre Weiss offer a unique vision, far from visual and linguistic stereotypes, at the crossroads of pictorial gesture and lyrical inspiration. Each of these artists uses a different approach, offering us an exhibition that combines a wide variety of forms that are abstract in outline but firmly rooted in the visible world. At the opening of the exhibition on Thursday evening, we met Charlotte Rampling, Alexandre Mattiussi, Fabrice Hergott and Bettina Pittaluga.
