An emblematic place of creation that has hosted photography legends such as Irving Penn, Guy Bourdin and Richard Avedon, the Studio des Acacias today honours the undisputed master of still life, the Italian Guido Mocafico, for the launch of the book “Mocafico Numéro”.
Anthology retracing seventeen years of photographs taken for Numéro, the work (published by Éditions Steidl) is the subject of an unpublished exhibition at the Studio des Acacias from February 10 to 18. Under the impetus of Babeth Djian and Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, President of Numéro and founder of the Mazarine agency, the exhibition tells the story of an unprecedented collaboration between the photographer and the editor of Numéro. It is the expression of a unique artistic independence, embodied for years by the Studios des Acacias.
Faithful to the artist’s nonconformist gaze, the exhibition is lived as an experience: on the ground floor, the walls, lined with picture boards from floor to ceiling, create a total immersion in the photographic universe of Mocafico. On the first floor, large formats underline the extreme precision of her work, in the image of the cut lipstick photographs that the many guests and friends of Numéro such as Stromae or the actress Ana Girardot were able to admire up close.
