19M Celebrates Excellence and Expertise in Craftsmanship
In the midst of the hectic Parisian Art Week, the 19M celebrated the excellence of craftsmanship and savoir-faire. The 19M is a multidisciplinary space devoted to cultivating the values of artistic craftsmanship, created in 2021 on the initiative of CHANEL to reflect the Maison’s commitment to the preservation and development of this unique savoir-faire. Designed by Rudy Ricciotti, its monumental architectural complex brings together design and production workshops from eleven art houses, the Maison ERES and a multi-disciplinary gallery open to the public offering a programme of exhibitions, workshops and conferences. Since goldsmith Goossens began working with CHANEL in the 1950s, a number of the fashion houses resident at 19M have invested in the fields of decoration and design. For over thirty years, Lesage Intérieurs has been designing, inventing and handcrafting embroidery for furnishing and decoration, while Studio MTX, created in 2013 by Atelier Montex, began with architectural embroidery and has since developed a unique combination of techniques borrowing from different areas of the applied arts. As for Lemarié, whose skills have historically been devoted to Haute Couture, they are now opening up to decorative finery and the creation of sculptural decors. The synergy of these decorative and design arts and crafts in the same building at 19M offers enthusiasts of “haute facture”, including decorators and interior designers, a unique range of excellent skills: goldsmithing, the art of featherwork and pleating, furniture embroidery and architectural embroidery. Invisible Collection is the leading online gallery for discovering beautiful designs from the world’s most renowned talents. The state-of-the-art online platform offers access to a unique and curated inventory of bespoke creations internationally, entirely made by exceptional craftsmen with unparalleled expertise. At this dinner of excellence, we saw Jean-Pierre Blanc, Pascale Mussard, Jean-François Lesage, Travis London, Aline Asmar d’Amman, Bibi Seck, Hubert Le Gall and Sky Bonan.
