Opening of the Monet-Mitchell Exhibit at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

The exhibition “Monet – Mitchell” presents a unique dialogue between the works of two unique artists, Claude Monet (1840-1926) and Joan Mitchell (1925-1992). The main objective of this exceptional exhibition is to present the two artists’ very singular perceptions of the same composite landscape – through various immersive formats.

The Nymphéas renders the motifs observed at length in Giverny, while Joan Mitchell’s “Atelier de la Tour” painted in Vétheuil, explores “transposition” through memory. A common restitution of what the Impressionists called “feelings”: perceptions that have remained vivid beyond space and time. “Feelings” are the keystone of Impressionism. The opening of this major exhibition was attended by prominent personalities of the arts, but also by some of the most significant fashion writers – as it should be during Fashion Week.
