Juergen Teller Takes Over the Grand Palais Éphémère

Whether by spotting the posters wrapping the Hôtel de Ville station on line 1 or through a recent visit to Suzanne Tarasieve’s gallery, any Parisian worthy of their name is well aware: the notorious Juergen Teller is in town. The famous German photographer, known for immortalising the world’s biggest stars, has landed in the French capital to unveil his “i need to live”. This exhibition is the most extensive retrospective of his work to date, spreading across the galleries of the Grand Palais Éphémère – something he deemed impossible when his wife, Dovile Drizyte, suggested the possibility after visiting an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou back in 2019.

The exhibition features some of the photographer’s most iconic photographs, alongside his most intimate series. The aim is always to celebrate the value of human existence. It’s a bold, unusual exhibition, just like his career. It’s an epic journey that combines the extraordinary destinies of the most important figures of our time with the ordinary.

At the opening, we met Diane Pernet, Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers, Sarah Andelman, Stefano Pilati, Agathe Rousselle, Lucien Pagès, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Fabien Vallerian and many others.
