Federico Cina’s Lyrical Shelter for Fall-Winter 2023

“Your house is your larger body. It grows in the sun and sleeps in the stillness of the night; and it is not dreamless,” wrote Khalil Gibran. For Federico Cina, home is where you feel good. Entitled “Apartment”, his autumn-winter 2023 collection is a very personal escape space. Born in the Romagna region of Italy, Federico Cina left his native country to travel the world. He is now returning to his homeland, and so we feel this mixed flavour in his latest fashion show, that of departure, but also of return. This is how the designer sews the present with the past. “I was born in the wrong place,” he did once state. However, what once seemed the wrong place, no longer does, and it becomes everything. Garments are modular and moldable, we find knitwear with patchwork inspired by old blankets, rugs, and curtains typical of childhood homes. A neutral and earthy colour palette conveys this feeling of warmth, that we attach to cozy and familiar spaces. The pieces oscillate between the composite and the deconstructed, the covering and the uncovering – just as we do when building our personal shelter. The runway show was attended by friends of the brand, including Michele Bravi, Salvo Rizza and Aya Mohamed, to name a few.
