Fondation Le Corbusier presents “Poèmes des Angles”
Built between 1923 and 1925 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, Maison la Roche is one of the most prestigious examples of modern architecture in France. Fondation Le Corbusier has opened a new exhibition titled “Poèmes des Angles” featuring four contemporary artists. Works from Adrien Couvrat, Théodore Fivel, Patrick Guidot and Xavier Veilhan populate the villa in the Square du Docteur-Blanche (which belongs to the Foundation like the adjacent Maison Jeanneret) and enter into an artistic trans-generational dialogue with Le Corbusier’s vision. The objective: to question the relationship between artists and the Corbusian language. A new “synthesis of the arts”, which the legendary architect has always claimed and which is reflected in the title of the exhibition. “Poèmes des Angles” is indeed a nod to the Poème de l’Angle droit, a lithographic collection in seven chapters written by Le Corbusier in 1955, which bears witness to his protean artistic approach. Designed by curator Charlotte Lepelletier (QCM Gallery), the exhibition presents new and unpublished works by the four invited artists, mainly collages, drawings and paintings, in the Maison la Roche’s spaces.
