Iconic: Pierre et Gilles Take Over Templon and Le Roxo
“Les couleurs du temps”, the new exhibition by Pierre et Gilles is now featured at the Galerie Templon. The iconic French duo revealed their latest works to the public on November 10, offering yet another tour de force to the visitors of the Galerie Templon. Pierre et Gilles’ hybrid portraiture pieces put forward an engaged and alluring repertoire of portraits that serve as a cartography of our current times. Not only do they merge the practices of photography and painting, but their works are also a blend of pop culture, art history, mythology, and religious references. The result? Strong portraits that are both alluring and disturbing, ironic and lighthearted, yet that remain conscious and critical of our actuality.
The exhibition opening started at the Rue du Grenier Saint-Lazare, and later moved to the Roxo, Les Bains Paris’ restaurant and fancy cocktail bar. Given the notoriety of both the French duo and the venue, it comes as no surprise that over 250 people attended the cocktail reception. All friends of Pierre et Gilles were present as well as personalities from the art world, journalists, models, and art critics, who didn’t want to miss out on such a memorable occasion.
