The Centre Pompidou Gives Carte Blanche to Laurence Benaïm

During Haute Couture Week, fashion permeates every inch of the French capital, extending far beyond the catwalks and after-parties. For its part, the Centre Pompidou invites us to plunge into this field with the exhibition “Traversing Appearances, When Fashion enters the Musée National d’Art Moderne”. Curated by Laurence Benaïm, the exhibition celebrates the powerful bonds tying fashion and artistic creation. Laurence Benaïm, journalist and author of numerous publications devoted to fashion, invites us to rediscover these two worlds through a series of inspired dialogues. To do so, the curator presents a selection of 17 models, including pieces by Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Iris van Herpen, Azzedine Alaïa, Thebe Magugu, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake as well as from young talents such as Charles de Vilmorin and Kevin Germanier. At the vernissage, held on Tuesday 23rd, we saw Jean Paul Gaultier, Iris van Herpen, Marine Serre, Kevin Germanier, Charles de Vilmorin and Lucien Pages, among the over seven hundred guests in attendance. Marc Lambron, Barbara Bui and Vincent Darré were also part of the very eclectic audience who came to celebrate creation in all its multiplicity.
