Iris Van Herpen

Dutch fashion designer and couturier Iris Van Herpen is renowned for her futuristic, darkly fantastical and architectural aesthetic. She combines technology with traditional haute couture craftsmanship to create her unique designs. Before launching her label, she interned at Alexander McQueen in London and Claudy Jongstra in Amsterdam. She founded her label in 2007 and became a guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris in 2011. Her work has been exhibited in prestigious museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. She was also awarded the Andam Prize in 2014. Van Herpen was one of the first designers to use 3D printing, silicones, iron filings and resin in her designs. She is also known for her environmentally friendly methods, including the use of cocoa fibre. Today, her brand is known worldwide and her designs are worn by famous pop stars such as Lady Gaga and Rosalía. In November 2023, Iris van Herpen will present her work at the Musée des Arts décoratifs.
