Camille Ménard Celebrates “Anti-Design”
Hold on to this name, Camille Ménard. Already a winner of the Audi Talent Award and exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo, this young artist is one of the rising stars of French design. Formed at the Beaux-Arts in Annecy and the École Boulle in Paris, Camille Ménard claims to be a “counter-designer”, that is, a fervent opponent to the famous “form follows function” principle. Making use of humour and a sharp eye, she goes against the grain of the leading tendencies of our times in order to denounce its excesses: having to build up muscles to be able to admire oneself in the mirror, dragging our telephone chargers around like a ball and chain, standing up to access a television remote control… On Thursday 6, the artist gathered a handful of friends, including Yorgo Tloupas, Léa Dassonville, Tania Bruno-Rosso, and Frédéric Bugada, for an evening at the home of a famous Parisian collector.
