Baccarat revives the myth of King Midas

We all know the myth of King Midas, a semi-legendary character who received from the god Dionysus the power to transform everything he touches into gold. Inspired by this mythological fantasy, this week Baccarat presented its autumn-winter 2017 collection entitled Goldfinger – The Midas Touch in its sumptuous salons in the 16th arrondissement. The mythical crystal of Baccarat is thus adorned with 20 carat hand gilding, while the house inaugurated its exhibition “Baccarat, timeless modernity” and the new face of its museum faithful to the spirit of Marie-Laure de Noailles with an interior design by Jean Michel Frank. Guest of honor of Daniela Riccardi, CEO of Baccarat, and its new owner, Coco Chu, musician Lenny Kravitz joined Kristina Bazan and Inès-Olympe Mercadal for an evening of discoveries on the theme, you will have understood, of gold. The opportunity to soak up exceptional pieces created in collaboration with designers like Philippe Starck. Among our favourite pieces, the Luxor vase for its pyramidal shapes reminiscent of the reliefs of Egypt, the amber carp inspired by the tales of Alexandre Pouchkine, without forgetting the piece by Philippe Starck: the Bon Jour Versailles lamp, ode to the splendour of the Sun King, fruit of the meeting between Baccarat and the Italian lighting manufacturer Flos.
