Carolein Smit’s Exhibition Opening at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature
Drawing inspiration from myths, monsters, fables and legends, the Dutch artist Carolein Smit has made ceramics her primary artistic medium. Her figures of animals and creatures, moulded in porcelain or stoneware, transport us to an uncanny and beautiful universe of reverie.
Through her work, one can immediately feel her liking for ancient times. From references ranging from the Middle Ages to the Baroque centuries, the cabinets of curiosities or cabinets of wonders, jewels and precious materials, her source of inspiration is clear. During the opening of her newest exhibition hosted at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, we encountered Jacques Garcia, Alban de Loisy, and Sylvie-Anne de Panisse Passis among other personalities.
