J.M. Weston’s “Commandes très spéciales” by Olivier Saillard

Some moccasins to go with your deviled egg appetizer? On Tuesday January 15th, at the Café de l’Époque, the waiters were not circulating espressos on their trays, but high-end shoes instead. At the start of men’s fashion week, Olivier Saillard, appointed creative director of J.M. Weston since last June, presented his “Commandes très spéciales” (very special orders) to an audience of Parisian fashion leaders—all seated in an intimate atmosphere at this typically Parisian café. Ines de la Fressange, Sophie Fontanel, Nathalie Rykiel, Laëtitia Casta, Saskia de Brauw, Christian Lacroix, and Charlotte Rampling discovered the collection around the Moccasin 180, the brand’s emblematic model revisited by Olivier Saillard. “Mocassimple,” “Maux qu’à Toi,” “Moc à Bouts”: Each model was given a bold name and presented to the crowd by garçons, as Olivier Saillard himself recited witty poems aloud about the seventeen styles. As is always the case at a nice café, no one wanted the check to ever arrive.
