Opening Of The Exhibition by Suzanne Husky, Winner Of The Drawing Now 2023 Prize
Suzanne Husky is a Franco-American contemporary artist best known for her multidisciplinary practice, which explores environmental and ecological concerns as well as the relationship between man and nature. In her work, she primarily uses recycled materials and natural elements to tackle issues concerning consumption, sustainability and our impact on the environment.
As the winner of the 12th Drawing Now Prize, Suzanne Husky has been invited to present her work at Drawing Lab, the Drawing Society’s space dedicated to exploring and exhibiting contemporary drawing. The exhibition “Le temps profond des rivières” plunges us into the artist’s universe, which explores and gives visibility to the beavers’ task as caretakers of the watercourses. Art becomes an agent of transformation in the public’s eye; illustrated stories by the philosopher Baptiste Morizot, naturalist plates and other objects interweave to form the fluctuating course of the exhibition as the artist’s delicate watercolours unfold. It depicts a singular and sensitive nature that leaves no one indifferent.
The evening also spotlighted the work of Cécile Guettier, who was invited to the Drawing Hotel for her solo exhibition “Abat-carrages”. We met Fabien Vallérian, Alain Gutharc, Ange Leccia and Cécile Guettier, to name but a few.
