Charles Zana presents “Utopia” at the Tornabuoni Art Gallery
The Tornabuoni Art gallery has given carte blanche to architect Charles Zana for “Utopia” now on display at their vast space in Paris’ Passage de Retz until December 21st. The gallery specializing in post-war Italian art dedicates this exhibition to the connections between Italian art and design from the 1950s to the 1980s. Curated in collaboration with Charles Zana, the exhibition’s story creates an original and intimate dialogue between iconic artists and designers such as Gino Sarfatti and Paolo Scheggi, Ettore Sottsass and Gianni Colombo, Nanda Vigo and Lucio Fontana and Michele de Lucchi and Alberto Burri. “Utopia” is a cultural meeting point for art, design and furniture and takes its title from the lamp of the same name created by the architect Nanda Vigo in 1970. Among the forty or so works on display, Tornabuoni Art also pays tribute to Alessandro Mendini, who passed away this year, by exhibiting several emblematic pieces, including the famous “Poltrona di Proust” armchair.
