Yohji Yamamoto’s Timeless Elegance

In the face of today’s increasingly fast-paced culture, Yohji Yamamoto takes the pace down a notch. The Japanese fashion designer, based in the French capital since the 1980s, has unveiled a collection proudly rooted in his very own style. There’s nothing particularly innovative here. As a matter of fact, certain pieces feel like a variation (or perhaps a slow evolution) of previous runway looks. That being said, we are nevertheless in awe of this poetic and masterfully executed collection. Models of all ages and genders walked the catwalk wrapped in layered, asymmetric suits adorned with artistic motifs, pins or knitted messages. We spotted Zinédine Zidane and Véronique Zidane, Michele Lamy, Diane Pernet, Luka Sabbat and Marc Forne among the celebrities attending the show, which took place this Thursday 18th at Yohji Yamamoto’s headquarters.
