Alicia Vikander presents the LVMH Prize to Thebe Magugu

The LVMH Prize ceremony was held this week at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. (Just the night before, 24S had honored the eight finalists at a private cocktail party at Lapérouse, to celebrate the exclusive sale on 24S.com of select fashions they created.) Kunihiko Morinaga, Bethany Williams, Kenneth Izedonmwen, Spencer Phipps, Hed Mayner, Emily Adams Bode and Thebe Magugu had their final interviews with the jury—members of which included powerhouses like Delphine Arnault, Clare Waight Keller, Jonathan Anderson, Nicolas Ghesquière, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Kris Van Assche. The actress and Louis Vuitton muse Alicia Vikander was the ambassador of this 2019 edition; she greeted the young designers before announcing (in French!) the winner: South African designer Thebe Magugu. On the @lvmhprize Insta-stories, Magugu expressed his delight, trophy in hand. The special prize—which was renamed the Karl Lagerfeld Prize in the wake of the designer’s death earlier this year—went to the Israeli designer Hed Mayner.
