Mordecai’s Collection Balances Volumes and Lightness

On Friday, January 12th, the brand founded by creative director Ludovico Bruno, presented its Collection #1, Tecniche di Volo (“Flight Techniques”). The starting point was a reflection on the concept of light travel, which translated into the stripping away of the superfluous in favour of an aesthetic centred around essential, rational volumes. From technical outerwear to knitwear, all pieces of the collection were inspired by martial arts and created their silhouettes through a mix of oversize and lightness. The lines are characterized by a controlled fluidity, with important round shoulders and trousers shaped by evident darts and folds, which open below the waist and taper to the ankles. The materials used range from super technical matte nylon to rough moleskin, via hand-made cashmere pashminas. The postmodern atmosphere of the international Riccardo Grassi showroom is the setting for the presentation, a meeting moment for numerous well-known faces in fashion, including Edward Buchanan, Sara Maino, Guido Milani wearing a Mordecai total look and Charles Otto-Berthoud, as well as Azzurra and Giampaolo Morelli.
