Missoni Stripes Ad Infinitum

Missoni’s Fall-Winter 2024 collection was a genuine tribute to the founders of the Maison. Filippo Grazioli, creative director of the brand, has embraced its origins with a collection evoking the aesthetic revolution that Ottavio and Rosita, the golden couple of Italian fashion, brought about in the late 1950s. Those stripes, born out of necessity, since the machines owned by the Missonis could only carry out that type of work, became the brand’s trademark and are still central on today’s catwalk, albeit in an updated version according to the young designer’s vision. Their signature pattern is interpreted in a hypnotic, almost obsessive way: broken down stripes, vertical or horizontal, are translated in a tone-on-tone version, using grey scales, warm tones or burnt ones, instead of the famous multicolour mode. Grazioli also breaks down the silhouettes, alternating extremely feminine adherent lines with oversized knitwear and fluffy outerwear, using different textures, from fur stitch to the typical Caperdoni tweed. The parterre was of course crowded with well-known faces, including Paola Turani, Marco Fantini e Beatrice Valli, Sita Abellan and many others.
