The HEAD Fashion Show 2023: Looking At The Future of Design

While it’s the Big Four who get to host Fashion Week, Geneva is the city with the honour of introducing the future of design with the HEAD Fashion Show. The prestigious Swiss school, also known as the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and the Haute École d’Arts Appliqués, is a genuine incubator of talent hosting an annual fashion show to present the work of its graduates. The 2023 edition, held on Friday 3 November in the Le Cube building on the Campus, featured 27 Bachelor’s and 12 Master’s collections. The scenography of this year’s catwalk was designed by Nicolas Perrottet, a former student of the Interior Architecture department, who created a setting enhancing the bold creations of the students. Clothes, of course, but also accessories, jewellery and even bags, each element of the collections contributed to conveying each student’s take on tomorrow’s fashion.

This year’s edition was entrusted to an exceptional international jury, who rewarded the work of 4 students with four distinctions. Master’s student Thomas Clément was the first to go onstage to receive the Laurastar-HEAD Prize for his collection “Before Sunrise”.  The HEAD x La Redoute Prize went to Master’s student Jeremy Currat, who won the distinction thanks to his collection “Slow Hot Wind”, followed by Bachelor’s student Maxence Guenin, who won the Bongénie Bachelor Prize for his collection “28”. Finally, Brigitte da Conceição was granted the ASWE Master Prize for her Master’s collection “No matter what people say, we got it going on”.

The ceremony was highlighted by opening speeches from the school director, Lada Umstätter, and Lutz Huelle, head of HEAD’s Fashion Design/Jewellery and Accessories department. During the evening, we had the pleasure of meeting jury members like Louis-Gabriel Nouchi, Serge Carreira, Alice Bouleau, Baron Osuna and Sylvette Boutin-Lepers, as well as personalities from the creative scene including Carine Maillard, Christian Wipfli, Gabrielle Huguenot, Mariaelena Morelli, and Jean-Pierre Blanc among many others!
