Maison Ruinart and Vik Muniz celebrate their “Shared Roots” at Art Basel Miami

Maison Ruinart joined Brazilian artist Vik Muniz to head back to their “Shared Roots” to kick off Art Basel Miami Beach with a champagne-infused soirée sparkling with celebrity guests and art insiders. The fusion of art and gastronomy marked the official launch of the “Vik Muniz x Ruinart Champagne Leaflimited-edition prints with 100% of the proceeds going to Imazon, a Brazilian nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of Amazon rainforests. Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud regaled guests with his moqueca and Timo Weiland was on DJ duty at this sunset-chic evening at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden with a guest list bubbling over with stars like Karolina Kurkova, Joan Smalls, Caroline Vreeland, Peter Marino and more. The collab began when Ruinart commissioned Muniz to turn his creative vision into art inspired by the brand’s heritage. During a residency during the October 2018 harvest in Ruinart’s French vineyards, Muniz discovered that the harsh climate of the region was unsuitable for growing crops, but that vines produce the best fruit under the most difficult conditions. From this experience, he created a series of photographic works inspired by winegrowers and vineyards depicting their challenges plus an interactive artistic installation in the chalk cellars at the Maison Ruinart in Reims. 30 limited-edition prints of Muniz’s emblematic Leaf artwork are for sale, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Imazon and their Amazonian conservation efforts. Muniz stepped out of the cellars and into the sun for the Ruinart party where he joined guests for a blend of Brazilian and French cultures, heritage and hype, and of course, champagne – Ruinart’s beloved Blanc de Blancs and Rosé, the first-ever Rosé champagne.
