Renault’s Endowment Fund Puts Street Art in the Spotlight at MAISON5
Launched in the 30s, Renault’s art collection keeps evolving to reflect our times. In June 2024, the group announced the creation of an endowment fund dedicated to culture, art and heritage, an initiative aiming at both preserving their existing collection and supporting contemporary creation.
On September 12th, the presentation of new acquisitions by the Renault endowment fund at MAISON5 highlighted the group’s new kinship with Street Art. Guest could discover great artworks like Dan Rawling’s “Bourgeon” on a Renault 5 E-Tech electric model, whose bodywork he has delicately chiselled into the shape of brambles and leaves, and “Heritage” created by the young Nice artist César Malfi on the side of a Scénic E-Tech electric bodywork.
American street artist JonOne delivered an outstanding performance, creating a piece entitled “The World of Tomorrow”, which he drew on the spot, in front of the audience, for over an hour. Jérôme Mesnager, who has a long history with Renault since he anonymously painted his ‘white men’ in the Île Seguin factory, came to rediscover and sign two works saved from demolition and preserved thanks to employees. Organised in partnership with Graffiti Art and thanks to the support of Viarte (Claudia Ferrazzi and Stéphane Corréard), the event brought together more than 260 personalities from the Street Art scene and the Renault Group. We met Clet, Speedy Graphito, Jacques Toubon, Jérôme Coumet, Denys Riout, Dominique Agostini, Arnaud Oliveux and several representatives of institutions such as Sophie Duplaix and Hugo Vitrani.
