Reiffers Art Initiatives Unveils Exhibition by Lorna Simpson and Gaëlle Choisne

Earlier this week, as a prelude to Paris + Art Basel, Reiffers Art Initiatives presented its latest mentorship exhibition. For the third consecutive year, the Reiffers Art Initiatives Foundation has organised a show featuring works created in the framework of its mentorship programme, which invites a major figure of the contemporary art world to become the mentor of an emerging artist of the French scene. This 2023 edition sees the artistic and intergenerational dialogue engaged in by American artist and photographer Lorna Simpson and French artist Gaëlle Choisne. Curated by Claire Tancons, the exhibition explores the artists’ relationship with the images making up our world and memory, as well as our relationship with Nature (polar for Lorna Simpson and Caribbean for Gaëlle Choisne). Through their works of art, they voice out an informed reflection on history and identity, reflecting current political and cultural issues.

During the opening evening, which featured a performance by Jerson Diasonama, we met Helene NGuyen-Ban, Jerome Sans, Clément Delépine, Nathalie Obadia, Paul Guyot Sionnest, Grégoire Chertok and Julien Doudet.
