Presentation of the Badges of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres to Cyril Pigot
Alain Seban, President of the Centre Pompidou, presented last Thursday evening the insignia of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres to his friend Cyril Pigot. A brilliant man of culture, Cyril Pigot has distinguished himself by creating and managing the Vintage & Collection department of Artcurial, which he has built into a world leader in this market by combining the art market and charitable commitment.
Among his many feats of arms and”nice moves”: In 2007, on the occasion of a”Hermès Vintage” sale, Cyril convinced Jane BIRKIN to offer her”Birkin” bag to the International Federation for Human Rights, the amount of the sale of which was entirely donated to them (74,000 euros, more than 14 times his estimate). This operation was renewed in 2008 when Princess Stephanie of Monaco asked her to sell Hermès de la Princesse Grace’s”Kelly” bag for the benefit of her fight against AIDS with her association Fight Aids Monaco.
