Ori Huchi Kozia wins the Orisha 2017 Award at the Apartment Gallery

The Orisha Prize, an international prize created for young contemporary artists of sub-Saharan origin, celebrated its second edition this week in Paris at the Galerie Appartement. This is one of the pillars of ORAFRICA, an association founded in 2016 by Nathalie Miltat with the aim of promoting and supporting sub-Saharan artistic creation in all its diversity. Thus twelve emerging artists were selected by a committee composed notably of the creator Bernie Seb, the exhibition curator Oulimata Gueye or the visual artist Myriam Mihindou whose work had been the subject of an exhibition at Apartement earlier this year. At the end of an evening where the works of the artists were exhibited and different artists spoke, the jury, sponsored this year by Harry Roselmack and chaired by the general curator of Art Paris Art Fair Guillaume Piens, awarded the prize to the Congolese artist Ori Huchi Kozia, self-taught video artist for his work “Moudoumango”. In addition to an endowment of two thousand euros, Ori Huchi Kozia will benefit from privileged support from ORAFRICA, with the opportunity to exhibit his works at the Galerie Appartement 27 bis or in a partner gallery.
