MSGM’s Dreamers University Show for Men’s Autumn-Winter 23 Collection

“Poetry, beauty, romance, love… these are what we stay alive for”, said Massimo Giorgetti, quoting John Keating in the film Dead Poets Society. And so, it was in the very premises of the Faculty of Architecture of the Milan Polytechnic, that MSGM paraded. This collection portrays a transitional phase: the moment when children become adults. And Massimo Giorgetti has succeeded to immortalize that precise moment. He makes it iconic, elevates and mixes it. A new generation of MSGM kids is rising, they are growing up and ready to take charge of their lives and society. Five years after the “University of Causality” collection, the name of the fall-winter 2018/19 fashion show, Massimo Giorgetti goes back to school.

Singer Gianmaria, winner of the last Sanremo Giovani music competition, was in charge of opening the runway show, and was closed by rapper and actor Leon Faun. Iconic themes of the Italian music band CCCP set the pace on a catwalk where models walked down the spiral staircase of the Politecnico wearing university uniforms. Campus looks and V-neck jumpers paired with fleece joggers, baseball pullovers and flannel Oxford shirts were the stars on stage. Likewise, glitter knit pullovers with metallic threads accompany the more classic boxy tailored garments. Not to mention coats, coach jackets, and baggy Bermuda shorts worn over leggings. MSGM thus takes us back to school with this dream collection that incorporates the codes of our contemporary everyday life.
