Michael Craig-Martin’s Iconic Objects at Cristea Roberts Gallery

A neon-coloured umbrella instantly catches our eye, its edgy contours leaving no room for doubt: it’s Michael Craig-Martin’s signature. From October 25th to November 23rd, the Cristea Roberts Gallery, located at 43 Pall Mall, London, presents a solo show by the highly acclaimed British artist. Featuring fifty works created over the past three decades, “Michael Craig-Martin: An Anthology” offers a comprehensive look at Craig-Martin’s influential career, including the formulation of a new visual language that is uniquely his own. By depicting ordinary objects, whether an umbrella, a glove or a pair of stilettos, the artist redefines their value, elevating them from everyday items to icons. Each piece blurs the line between subject and object, achieving a striking balance of simplicity and sophistication.

This unique selection is mirrored just a stone’s throw from the gallery, at the Royal Academy of Arts, which is hosting a major retrospective of his career until December 10th. During the exhibition opening, held on October 29th, we had the pleasure of meeting Michael Craig-Martin, alongside Sarah Jennings, Ron Else, Alex Boyt, and Alan Cristea, to name but a few.
