Mexican Design and Architecture Studio ATRA Unveils CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Founded in 2014 by designer Alexander Díaz Andersson, ATRA currently operates from its design studio and production workshop in Mexico City. The brand is renowned for its ability to fuse futuristic concepts with traditional woodworking techniques, creating pieces that withstand the test of time, both aesthetically and functionally.

ATRA is now organizing an exhibition of furniture and artworks entitled “CARE INSTRUCTIONS”. Held in Paris at 18, rue d’Anjou, it explores the way we become attached to inanimate objects, examining how the true ownership of an object stems not simply from its purchase, but from the memories created by living with it. As part of the exhibition, ATRA presents SKIN, a fitted silicone cover designed for ATRA’s Beluga sofas. Here, the studio plays with the idea of preserving the piece against the test of time while fully preserving its function. SKIN guarantees the authenticity of furniture while protecting it from the wear of everyday life. This design philosophy reflects ATRA’s belief that luxury furniture should be fully inhabited, appreciated and used. The exhibition is further complemented by a selection of artworks carefully chosen from the prestigious collection of ATRA partner Jeremiah Joseph. Among the pieces on display are works by renowned artists such as Jason Rhoades, David Hammons and many others. Finally, a piece by Swedish-Mexican artist Alexander Díaz Andersson will also be on display.

At the inauguration, we met Alexander Díaz Andersson, Jeremiah Joseph, Gabriella Kuti, Jérôme Sans, Lucas Zwirner and many others.
