L’Oréal Paris “Lights On Women” Evening Awards Female Directors

An official sponsor of Cannes Film Festival for the past 24 years, L’Oréal Paris launched the Lights On Women Award in 2021, with American actress Kate Winslet as lead juror. A reminder of the power and importance of women’s narratives, this prize recognizes the work of a female director of a short film. In 2022, Mai Vu won the award for her slow-motion animated film “Spring Roll Dream”, highly praised by Kate Winslet, who described it as “exquisite”. Launched by Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, International Managing Director of L’Oréal Paris, this initiative highlights a lesser-known film format, the short film, a very valuable platform for young female directors. The winner of this 2023 edition was Fatima Kaci, who was bestowed with the prize for her work “La voix des autres” during an outstanding ceremony where we crossed paths with Andie MacDowell, Leila Bekhti, Eva Longoria, Elsa Zylberstein and Charlotte Le Bon, among others.
